I observed one of my colleagues who was complaining that he is feeling immense pressure on his temples. We had a cup of tea and he became a little better. The next day again, he was dizzy and feeling a heavy head. This problem prolonged in the coming days, whenever, I inquired him about any assigned task, he used to gaze at me empty-minded. He seemed nervous and tense.

most of the time. I was surprised because he was pretty fresh and energetic in all his domestic and professional tasks just a few days back.
It turned out that he was suffering from turmoil for the last few days. He had three daughters, whereas, his wife was a working woman too. Unluckily his younger brother had lost his legs in a severe road accident so he had to look after him for all the movements along with old parents. The irony of fate followed him as one of his sisters got divorced and came to his home along with her children. Having limited resources, these responsibilities had raised the physical as well as financial burden over his shoulders. Besides the job, his time was also divided between his parents, siblings, and children. Quarrels with spouses were also started on various domestic issues. He became fatigued and restless in this mess of coping with relations and responsibilities. Consistent worries and unrest affected his neck and scalp muscles. This boom of tension converted his normal headache to a tension headache.
While looking around in our society we observe several such cases. A human being is a sensitive gadget that gets disturbed due to disorders in life patterns. No doubt, the brain is the chief of whole body functions and it is natural that if any malfunction in the command and control system develops it definitely affects the whole body in a certain proportion. We term these effects as physical symptoms due to anxiety. Hence, it is quite evident to keep the brain functions calm and cool otherwise one would have to suffer the consequences.
It is imperative to note that patients who have significant anxiety, frequently experience tension headaches. The symptoms of tension headaches include intense pressure, heaviness in the head, and migraines. A tight band-like sensation is intensely felt around the skull. These headaches occur due to the tightening of the neck and scalp muscles.
Furthermore, due to the unending desire of improving the living standards, people have become too conscious of their choices. This phenomenon has also led us to a time when everyone is thinking about their next moment. However, such baseless and constant worry about the future can also be traced back to anxiety. These worries impart serious distresses to the affected person. Some common mental symptoms of anxiety include:
- Feeling nervous, restless, or tensed
- Having a sense of impending danger or panic
- Trouble concentrating or thinking about anything
- Having difficulty controlling worry
- Having the urge to avoid things that trigger anxiety
- Losing self-control, as if nothing is in their hands
- Feeling extremely alone
- Having less energy, to the point of barely even speaking.
- Feeling of worthlessness, like no one deserves them
According to patients with anxiety disorders, their existence is overwhelming. They are chained and stuck in a never-ending loop. Even the idea of getting through the day haunts them.
Relieving Strategy
- While talking about relief in the heavy head, it declines with the appropriate intake of water because the dehydration phenomena affect the hormonal function. So always consume the recommended amount of water.
- Breathing exercise is also very effective for interim relief. It allows more air to enter our bodies, which lowers stress and anxiety.
- Physical exercises support the release of hormones and neurotransmitters which further calms down the mind along with muscles.
- Try to get rid of persistent conflicts that are taking away your healthy life due to anxiety.
- If the tension headache is not resolved, then approach a psychiatrist for therapy and medicine.
Don’t neglect your feelings but don’t let feelings control you and believe that they are the reality. Let go of what destroys you. Otherwise, if anxiety began to affect your personal life, it can turn into a severe type of anxiety disorder i.e. panic attack condition.
What is the most severe anxiety?
The most severe kind of anxiety is “panic attacks disorder” because they are unpredictable as the condition can occur even in familiar places where there is no real threat. The condition involves intense fear that something really bad would happen. The psychological threat activates the body’s response system including a rise in heart rate, pulse rate, sweating, increased blood flow, and hormonal release.

The most prominent symptoms entail; a pounding heart, chills, a sense of choking, feelings of heart attack, shortness of breath, dizziness, and chest pain. The condition lasts for 20 minutes to an hour. The worst part is that the person is clueless and remains worried about the next attack. This is the point when a “change in behavior” is observed due to the disorder because people try to avoid previously loved places and activities like dining outside, watching a movie, or even a meet up with friends.
But no worries, panic attacks are treatable via medications and psychotherapy. Psychotherapy like CBT reduces the fear and teaches them to cope with the condition. It may also be proved effective in decreasing the intensity and frequency of the situation. While medications help to control the symptoms related to panic attacks and reduce the risk of other mental illnesses.
Alongside the permanent resolution, one must look into gray areas of life that are causing anxiety. This will help to change your life pattern should I take out the word conflict and if you are incapable to root out the buried cause, seek the help of your friends, family, or professionals. Life is a precious gift of the Almighty so one should live every moment of this blessing.
